Stock gearbox is completely fine at 500whp. As such, getting a turbo setup that allows a little headroom is never a bad idea. First, you must understand your goals. As with any build you should think about the supporting mods required for your individual power goals. This is not even something you would compare to what they have done on 30psi as that was a fully purpose built car for maximum power. From a design standpoint, this application is a challenge with the tight engine bay and a lot of tubing to fit in a small space. It is an iterative process and new map iterations will be sent after each set of logs.

Though you may sacrifice a small amount of spool, these turbos can just about max out an unopened N54. For example, a turbo setup capable of 650whp is not going to make 650whp on 93 pump gas. For people looking to push 700+whp through an un-opened N54, you may even opt for the biggest, baddest 800+whp turbos. Though going above the recommendation may result in premature wear and shorter life-span. You can find excellent setups for power goals as low as 500whp up to 1000+whp, and everything in between.

Meaning, these setups are starting to get pretty expensive on top of the turbo kits. The Precision 6870 is a massive turbo capable of 1000whp. This will not only look great but when the install time comes, it will make life that much easier. On the other hand, the 6765R will make upwards of 850whp but comes at the cost of added lag. Motiv Based RHD N54 & N55 Single Turbo Kit

The first two numbers represent the size of the compressor wheels, 62mm and 64mm respectively. But I have to admit that I do still like my 335xi. Our system starts with a completely custom designed manifold that is a 2pc design. This was low boost, stock intercooler even, we would have been close to 500 without much more I think if we just did an intercooler upgrade. The larger 6466 turbo is capable of making closer to 800whp, but will likely take an extra ~200rpms to spool. Sitting on top of the manifold is your choice of Precision ball bearing or journal bearing. I can sell a system that will bolt on and really make as much power as the stock transmission is going to hold safely.

Our manifold is designed to use our On 3 Performance 44mm v-banded wastegate to control boost. Given the larger design of these turbos they trade off a little spool and torque in favor of more top end power. Definitely a huge improvement, overall. For those that have been following our design and build stage, the time is here and we are ready to fulfill the orders! You're lucky to have that Nizpro box! The 304ss dump tube routes down from the wastegate and terminates right at the factory exhaust connection. If you are interested in a kit, please let us know. They offer a good selection of turbo options from both Garrett and Precision. Part of the reason I bought this kit was because I blew my motor which required to me remove and re-install a new motor.
