Incident response

Intelligent, adaptive building security

As IP-based security systems use a common 'language', they can offer improved flexibility and intelligence compared to traditional systems. This moves securing facilities on a long way since the days of a guard sitting in dedicated control room, having to look at grainy monitors to see if anything occurs.

A system can be customised to your individual requirements, and behave exactly how you want it. Here is an example case study of what can be achieved through intelligent incident response:

An incident occurs

The incident could be a customer pressing a button at a help point or a fire door being opened.

The alert

IP CCTV cameras immediately turn to record the incident. Security staff are alerted to the event, and their screens change to show the area in question so they can decide the best course of action.

The response

Staff in the control room use active RFID tracking to see which security staff member is closest to the event – then contact them and ask them to respond. In the meantime staff in the control room can talk via the help point to reassure the person – or in the case of a security incident talk via the CCTV camera's integrated microphone and speaker.

After the event

Security staff can easily find the relevant CCTV footage when later analysing the incident. They can see a list of events – for example at 10:15am a help button was pressed - then see the corresponding footage. They can also undertake deeper analysis if required - for example at 10:02am a car entered the premises, then see all other footage of that car entering the premises in the past using ANPR (automatic number plate recognition).

Security that adapts to your environment

This is just one scenario of many, and each security system can operate and adapt to the unique requirements of its owners. But the benefits are clear: it's more efficient, it ensures that events aren't missed and allows for security staff to respond more quickly.
